“This image is based on a page from my comic, Islands, in which the main character discovers that things are not what they have always seemed to be. The comic is about a solitary journey through a dream that mixes astrophysics and bending realities. The drawings were made in the winter and spring of 2011 while I was abroad in Sweden.” – Brendan Monroe
The Square Kilometre Array (SKA)

The world’s most powerful radio telescope — the SKA — will search for ripples in the fabric of space-time, allow us to explore deep space, and will help us answer our biggest questions about it.
Einstein’s equations predict that a light beam’s trajectory will bend as it passes near a mass because light also travels within space. Physicists have measured the bending of light and of spaceship signals passing near the edge of our sun.

Discovery’s { Curiosity }: Did God Create the Universe?
Stephen Hawking unfolds his personal, compelling vision of the biggest question of all: Who or what created the universe in which we live? The groundbreaking series Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking combined cutting-edge CG with Hawking’s witty, distinctive and incisive worldview. Now, we take the journey a step further, as physics and cosmology become tools to answer questions that philosophers have struggled with for thousands of years.
