…a conflict between (all of) our (historical, space-) time and our (American, mostly) culture: the latter seems to want and reward democracy, equality to the point of flatness, to be down-to-earth and to savor “the little things”. But our time is like the magnified landscape of space-time, of quantum foam! It’s turbulent, in flux, out — past the clouds even — in the cosmos! Our time is grandiose, full of the eternally massive, and the infinitely minuscule. It multi-focuses, macro-to-micro and back out again. It’s sublime, and it’s poking through the sheets.
